Butterfly In The Sky, We Made LeVar Burton Cry

Yesterday national treasure and icon of my childhood, LeVar Burton, started a Kickstarter campaign to relaunch the classic TV show Reading Rainbow. This time around, Burton will be distributing by sharing Reading Rainbow’s extensive video library digitally with classrooms around the world, for free.

I'll take his word for it.

I’ll take his word for it.

The campaign reached it’s goal of $1,000,000 within 11 hours.

The exact moment they met their goal, the folks over at Reading Rainbow Inc. filmed this clip. If you’ve ever wondered what moustached angels look like when they weep, look no further.

Awwwwwwww! LeVar caught the feels and just gave them to me!

Currently the campaign has raised over 1.8 million dollars, with 34 days to go, who knows how much more they’ll make.

The Rainbow connection.

Sky’s the limit for Rainbow.

Reading Rainbow is back!

I still wish PBS would get off their lazy asses and go ahead and greenlight a new Reading Rainbow series and air it 365.

We need more of these CLASSIC CULTURAL MOMENTS!

(Thanks, Austin!)

And just because I can’t resist crowbar-ing in a Star Trek TNG Geordi LaForge joke:
