Homeless Veteran Treated Like a King (If This Doesn’t Melt Your Heart, You Don’t Have One)

Before.

Before.

Degage Ministries in Grand Rapids Michigan, is a non-profit that helps the homeless and people in need. Back in September, they teamed up with filmmaker Rob Bliss to document a makeover Degage’s crew performed on a homeless Army Veteran, Jim Wolf.

The time-lapse video is nothing short of miraculous. Yes, a shaggy homeless dude gets made over and looks flawless, but it’s Mr. Wolf’s demeanor that is the true miracle.

The clothes sometimes DO make the man.

The clothes sometimes DO make the man.

At the beginning of the video we see a man beaten down by years of alcoholism, poverty and homelessness. As the film progresses you see Jim visibly lifted by others doing good. The climax of the clip occurs when a mirror is held up to Wolf, and after smiling in approval at his new look, he gave the filmmaker a hug.

Make someone's day today.

Make someone’s day today.

But wait, there’s MORE!¬†

Buoyed by his makeover, Jim has since taken his life back. He’s now secured housing for himself and is attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Sometimes showing simple kindness to a person in need, is all it takes to change the trajectory of their life.

I don’t know about you, but somebody must be cutting onions in this dusty old room because I’m crying like I just read the ending to “Where the Red Fern Grows.”
