Charlie Kaufman’s first draft was called “Being Gary Busey” but the cost for Johnny Walker Red was only off set by the star’s very specific request for cheap hookers because “they cried more.”
Buddy Ebsen was initially cast in “The Wizard of Oz” until Gary Busey shived him and left him bleeding to death in Jimmy Cagney’s Oldsmobile on the Paramount lot.
After a night of listening to Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon”, producers decided to re-cast “Oz”, and what many feel would have become a timeless family classic became the most popular “midnight movie” ever filmed.
