Today is the birthday of the great entertainer Paul Rubens, who you no doubt know as PEE WEE HERMAN!
Pee wee is a childhood hero of mine, and last summer I got to fully realize a dream when I saw him LIVE at Radio City Music Hall.
In honor of the bow-tied one on his special day, I’d like to challenge each and every one of you to obtain a copy of the classic film.
AWWW HAIL NAW Crib Keeper, you did NOT just call Pee Wee’s Big Adventure a “classic!”
OH YES I DID, HATERS.
Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, while a ridiculous romp on the surface, was also a satire. Add the hilarious script, written by Rubens and the late Phil Hartman, and you have a slam dunk. The icing on the cake? The colorful, wacky sets and direction by a young Tim Burton.
Ah, Tim Burton. You’d think a gal like yours truly would be all up on Tim’s tip…but I’m not. I find all the scroll iron work, purples and wounded Johnny Depp very redundant. Don’t get me wrong, I realize Burton poops strawberry soft serve to millions of folks, I just think Pee Wee’s Big Adventure is his best movie.
So tonight, rather than watch the latest shoot-em-up with your loved ones, take another look at this classic, and understand this…I know every line of this film by heart.
Happy Birthday Pee Wee! May you have all the ICE CREAM SOUP you can stomach!!
And Just because I’m from Texas, and we’re real
annoyingly proud of our state…I’m going to share all of my favorite Pee Wee’s Big Adventure Texas Clips! Enjoy!!!!
