This morning, I have a surprise for you kiddies, your old pal the Crib Keeper is Introducing a new post series: THINGS THAT MAKE MY MORNING!
You see, every morning all of us have a routine. My routine involves PUMPING UP THE JAM! Each morning, I find something to kick my day off with a smile. Be it laffing with L4L, rockin’ it with Angry Baby, a good chat with the man upstairs, or watching a favorite nutshot clip. Each day, I seek out SOMETHING to make my morning. I’ll bet you do the same thing, in your own way.
When the mood strikes me, I’ll share with you: songs, vids, news stories, quotes (non-pretentious only!) as they make my morning. PS: I’d love you to send in the stuff that makes your morning.
Without further delay, here’s the first TTMMM post!
Now THIS, boils and ghouls, is how you start a morning!!! The Crib Keeper is on TOP OF THE WOOOOORRRRLD!
Here’s what I had in my inbox this morning, courtesy of the fine folks at Deadline Hollywood www.deadline/hollywood/
Feast your eyes on the most wonderful news!!!!!!!!!!!!
EXCLUSIVE: Fifteen years after horror anthology Tales from the Crypt ended its seven-year-run on HBO, a new TV series based on the popular and controversial 1950s EC Comics anthology is in the works with Gil Adler, producer on the HBO Crypt series, and Andrew Cosby, co-creator of Syfy hit Eureka and co-founder of comic book publisher BOOM! Studios. The new hourlong series will neither be anthological nor related to the HBO show. “It will be an ongoing series that uses characters from the comic books in a more modern context,” Cosby said. “It’s all about continually elevating the genre, for both existing fans of the source material and mainstream audiences…”William Gaines’ grandson Corey Mifsud will be credited as associate producer.
A detailed pitch and a bible for the new Crypt series have been completed, with producers expected to take the project out shortly. It will be pitched to broadcast networks as part of the current development cycle as well as to cable outlets. (There had been some rumblings about potential interest from HBO sister channel Cinemax, which has returned to original programming.) The producers are considering both a traditional network model and non-traditional route for the project, including fully financing the series, probably as an international co-production, before taking it to U.S. nets.
Not only was Tales from the Crypt, my favorite television show, it is also my favorite comic series, (all the William Gaines horror comics: Vault of Horror, Haunt of Fear, Tales of Shock and Suspense, etc…stories from each were used in the HBO Series.) I’m lucky to own a whole stack of them, which I cherish. I’ll spare you the obscure- vintage-horror-comic talk and get back to the goods.
A RE-BOOT OF TALES FROM THE CRYPT is awesome news…however I read the subtle side-eye they gave the HBO series, I sincerely hope they showcase the Crypt Keeper in SOME WAY, while not the hammy star he was in the HBO Series, the Crypt Keeper is an important element of the comic…sorry, I know you don’t care about this shiz, but HAY: MY SITE, MY RULES FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!!!!!!!!!
Tales from the Crypt getting a much-deserved, revival from the dead, is a heartwarming Zombie tale we can all get behind.
IT MADE MY MORNING PEOPLE!!!!!!!!
Let’s get out there and KILL IT TODAY! Happy Friday-Eve Errbody!!!!
